Synopsis

For five seasons our heroes did whatever it took to survive on Earth, and nothing worked. Earth was unsurvivable, lost to them forever. What was not lost: hope. After 125 years in cryosleep, traveling through the stars, our heroes woke up to a new home, a final gift from some dearly-departed friends. A place where they can try again. They're given one simple task: do better, be the good guys. With this credo in mind, Clarke and Bellamy lead a group down onto this mysterious world, hoping to start anew, to finally find peace. But old habits die hard and when they stumble across an idyllic society, it quickly becomes clear that not everything on Sanctum is as perfect as it seems. Despite their determination to do better, threats both seen and unseen will once again force our heroes to fight for their lives and the future of humanity.[3]

The cast did not attend San Diego Comic-Con to promote the sixth season, unlike the previous five years. However, the episode "The Dark Year" was shown at a special WB comic-con screening event, six days ahead of its airdate.[4] [5] Also, Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor attended Comic-Con for TV Guide Magazine's Fan Favorites.[6]

Notes and Trivia

  • On May 7, 2018, The 100 was renewed for a sixth season.[1]
  • The writers started working on the season on May 21, 2018 and ended on December 21, 2018.[7] [8] Filming began on August 27, 2018 and wrapped up on February 8, 2019.[9]
  • Aaron Ginsburg, Terri Hughes Burton, Justine Juel Gillmer, Julie Benson, Shawna Benson, Lauren Muir, Heidi Cole McAdams were not writing or producing this season. [citation needed]
  • Kim Shumway rejoined the writing team.[10]
  • Bob Morley directed the eleventh episode of the season,[11] which started filming on January 8, 2019,[12] then wrapped up on January 18, 2019.[13]
  • Ed Fraiman returned. He was "Co-Executive Producer" and directed the season premiere and season finale.
  • P.J. Pesce[14], April Mullen[15], Marshall Virtue[16] and Amanda Tapping[17] directed some episodes of the season.
    • Amanda Tapping and JR Bourne who portrays Russell Lightbourne previously appeared together in several episodes of Stargate SG-1.
  • Jason Rothenberg posted the Title Sequence for the season on his Twitter account on April 3, 2019. The new opening revealed that Shannon Kook is a series regular in the sixth season. This is the latest into a season's production that a new series regular was announced, with four weeks remaining until the premiere.
    • This also makes this the first season to have fewer than ten series regulars, with only nine.
  • Production was delayed for one week due to Bob Morley's knee surgery. Because of this, some of Bellamy's scenes at beginning of season 6 had to be changed to Bellamy sitting down. Stunt doubles were used for walking and running scenes.[18]
  • Just like Season Three, Clarke is the only main character seen in Season 6 poster.
    • Clarke appearing twice on the poster in a mirror image is likely foreshadowing her becoming a host for Josephine Lightbourne.
  • This is the second season that does not include a two-part episode. The first was Season Four.
  • Bellamy Blake and Octavia Blake are the only main characters that appear in every episode.
    • Clarke Griffin missed two episode, but Eliza Taylor still appears in every episodes by performing Josephine Lightbourne in The Gospel of Josephine and The Old Man and the Anomaly. So it making Eliza, Bob Morley and Marie Avgeropoulos the only three actors in every episodes.
  • In the form of flashbacks and hallucinations, deceased characters Jake Griffin, A.L.I.E., Maya Vie, Monty Green, Charles Pike and Queen Nia reappear in newly filmed scenes.
  • Megan Danso, who played Juel in Season Three, plays the separate recurring character of Layla starting in "Ashes to Ashes."
  • This season has the lowest number of deaths in the series with 60-70 or more deaths. The highest is Season Three.
  • This was the thrid season to have two major characters to died (Marcus Kane and Abigail Griffin). First two is Season Four and Season Five.
